Civil Matters

Orders

Regardless of the county in which the matter originated, all proposed orders for all judges can be forwarded to the Court Administrator’s Office in Tupelo, Mississippi. Please address the envelope to the assigned judge, P.O. Drawer 1100, Tupelo, MS 38802.

Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for prompt return. Signed orders will be returned unfiled. It is your responsibility to file the order with the appropriate Circuit Clerk’s office.

All agreed orders must contain signatures of counsel for all parties and/or signatures of any parties not represented by counsel.

Motions

In order to schedule a hearing on a civil motion, please refer to the list of available civil motion dates located under the Court Calendar section of this website. Please confer with all parties to select an available date. Please prepare an Agreed Order Setting and mail the original to the Court Administrator’s Office along with a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return to either your office or the clerk for filing.

If a scheduled hearing needs to be cancelled, please file a Notice of Cancellation with the Circuit Clerk’s Office and forward a copy to the Court Administrator’s Office in order to remove the hearing from the docket.

A hearing on a motion does not necessarily need to be heard in the county in which the action originated.

Pursuant to the Uniform Rules of Circuit and County Court Practice, be sure to forward a copy of any motion or response that has been filed with the Circuit Clerk’s Office to the assigned judge via the Court Administrator’s Office.

Trials

In order to schedule a trial for a civil matter, you must request trial dates from the Court Administrator’s Office. You may request trial dates by completing the following form or by forwarding a written request to the Court Administrator’s Office via mail, facsimile or email. If you choose to send a written request, be sure to include the information requested in the form below.

The Court Administrator’s Office will contact you via telephone or email with a list of available trial dates. Once all counsel have agreed upon an available trial date, please mail an Agreed Order Setting Trial to the assigned judge via the Court Administrator’s Office.

If a settlement is reached in a case that has been placed on the trial calendar, please forward a letter to that effect to the Court Administrator’s Office and the trial will be removed from the trial calendar.
